Name:Don Wellman
Nickname:The Don
Batting:R/H Middle Order
Bowling:R/H Medium

\"The Don\" is an Eltham legend who played for the club from the early seventies to 2004, when he moved away from the Medway area.

Don was a teacher at Bexley Grammar School, which had great links with the club for many years, who actually taught a couple of the current Eltham players. A true all-rounder (check Don\'s stats below if you don\'t believe us!) Don currently holds the club record for highest individual score of 151 not out. Amazingly, this was Don\'s only century for the club (although he was known as \"Mr Whippy\" for a while due to a 99 not out against Croydon Gas!). Don was also known for sharp reflexes in the field, specialising in one handed catches particularly at gully.

No profile on Don would be complete without mentioning one of our favourite tour fines from years gone by. A maths teacher, Don was easy to goad into a discussion on anything mathematical, and on one occasion Don was fined heavily for explaining quadratic equations to Pete Fisher (who had been primed by Jim Hill, the finemaster) at breakfast at great length.

A golf fanatic, Don has allegedly been living on golf courses up North since he moved away.
