This is the home page of Eltham Cricket Club. We play social but competitive cricket, mostly on Saturdays, but occasionally on Sundays.

We like to play with a smile. If you like your cricket friendly, and you'd like to play for us, please contact us.

The 2019 Season

30th April 2019

The 2019 season is now upon us, promising so much to so many, and indeed ice packs and Voltarol for others. Pete Swain has already laid down a marker by hitting his first two sixes of the season in the opening match at Horley, a challenge eagerly taken up by Gam Gurung and Matt Bulpitt, and ignored by Pad who chose to get a golden duck instead. We suspect that there will be many twists and turns as the season progresses, and wish all players good fortune and, above all, plenty of fun along the way.

If you are reading this and thinking you'd like to have a game of cricket - please do get in touch, we are always open to new players of all abilities.

RIP Robin

16th April 2019

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Robin Ackerley, Eltham's wicketkeeper between 1996 and 2003, following a long illness. Robin was Head of English at Bexley Grammar School, and although always self-deprecating about his cricketing abilities, loved the game and brought warmth and humour to every game that he played for us.

Asked to pen his own update for the Bexley Grammar School magazine following his departure to Cheshire in 2003, Robin wrote that he had "played unsuccessfully at golf and cricket, keeping wicket for Eltham Cricket Club, a sort of rest home for elderly cricketers mainly of BGS extraction". Those elderly cricketers of BGS extraction, and elsewhere, pass on their condolences to Gloria and Robin's family, and will always cherish the memory of Robin's matches with us.
