A bit about us...
Eltham Vs Horton Kirby CC played on Sat, 9th May, 2009
|
We play most of our games on Saturdays, with a few Sunday games thrown in. If you'd like to join us, please contact any of the Committee - we're always happy to see new players.
The 2009 season is now underway, and we've won our first game of the season against our friends at old Pilotonians. The current 2009 season summary is:
Played 11 Won 7 Drawn 2 Lost 2
We went on our tour of Hampshire and Dorset in late May 2009 - a marvellous time was had by all - and we were even photographed by a travelling Greenheath player at our game at Ashurst - small world! Wheels are in motion to try to organise similar matches for a tour next year.
Completely unfairly, we have also introduced a Duck's Gallery. Check it out to see those unfortunate enough to have been snapped with "Amelia" so far in 2009 - they might be outwardly smiling, but inside they are furious!

Pre-Season Meal
Our esteemed Social Secretary, Matt "Brad" Bulpitt, organised a pre-season meal for Friday, 24th April 2009. We had 19 players and better halves turning up, and a great time was had by all. Thanks to Matt and Derek for their work behind the scenes to get everyone along.
G'Day from Down Under
Dave McCann, an ex-Eltham player from the 1990's who moved to Australia to take up a lucrative position in Athletics (we believe he was trying to bring in a new field event known as "Bat Hurling", which he perfected at Old Alleynians), recently called us from the hallowed turf of Greenwich Park asking us where the chuff we were (the answer was - sitting on our backsides since we didn't have a game). Sadly we couldn't arrange
a time and place to meet up with Dave, but he wanted us to pass on his regards for all Eltham members who remember him. Dave - we could hardly forget! Hopefully if he's ever in the country in the summer again we can persuade him to come out of retirement for a game, for old time's sake! Good on yer, Dave, and thanks for remembering your old mates.
Golf Day
Eltham held a Golf Day at on Friday 20th February at Birchwood Golf Club (click the course link for details of location etc). Expertly organised by Matt "Brad Pitt" Bulpitt, the day saw some excellent golf (Mr Page) and some rather less excellent golf (Messrs Wouldham and Redman) but was enjoyed by all.
Richard Page won the stableford and longest drive competition quite comfortably, whilst Gary Bill captured the prize for "Nearest the Pin". Andy Redman needed a scuba kit for the 18th (and some brown sauce for his bacon roll rather than the vinegar he mistakenly put on it), while Pete Fisher has been advised to don a sombrero and Zapatta moustache the next time he goes on a golf course since he is such a bandit. Thanks to Matt for a great day - beers were had in the bar afterwards and families and othe halves joined us to end the day in the traditional Eltham way - though we fear that Splinters may have overdone it!

Club Kit from CustomSports.co.uk
Anyone who has witnessed Richard Page's legs at the start of this season will have doubtless been impressed with his Eltham Cricket Club
shorts (before he was tackled on the beach by Will Bisley, anyway), adorned with the Eltham badge. If you're interested in getting some of this sort of kit yourself, try the link below.
